Heike holds a PhD (Dr. phil.) in German as a Foreign Language / Psycholinguistcs. She is an experienced language teacher with 40 years of experience in teaching the German Language (GFL) at all levels to international lerners at tertiary education institutions, using digital and online rescources as well as textbooks and other recources..
She was an associate professor for German Philology (Language Teaching and Language Acquisition Research) in Denmark at Copenhagen University, a lecturer in the German Studies programme (B.A., M.A.) at University of Nairobi in Kenya, and a lecturer at the German Unit of the University of Education in Winneba, Ghana - a unit that was founded on her initiative and under her auspices.
From 2007 until 2013 she was the DAAD country director. In this role she was in charge of academic cooperation between Germany and Ghana.
From 1985 until 2024 she was a permant lecturer at the Language Center of Humboldt University Berlin, Germany.
She lives in Ghana since 2007.
